Apart from this, this section of the study has been focused on the workplace ethics, importance of ethics and examples of workplace ethics. Moreover, the section of the study has also focused on the laws and ethical practices   

Ethics

Ethics is also known as moral philosophy, which is used to determine what, is good or what is bad. Moreover, this term also applied in theory of principle or moral values. Ethics is also based upon standards of right and factors and it is engaged with obligations, rights and fairness. Ethics also affect decisions. The ethics are different types, such as- Personal ethics, Common ethics and professional ethics. The personal ethics are engaged with family, friends, cultural, religion, education and other factors (Markham et al., 2018). 

Moreover, the common ethics is taking care of the conversations with the people, sometimes many philosophers do not agree with it. On the other hand, the people are engaged with professionalism, such as - Doctors, Journalists and lawyers maintain professional ethics.  

In ethics there are so many types of theories are present, such as - Virtue theories, Duty theories, consequentiality theory. Apart from theories, the other theories of ethics are- Emotive theories of ethics. The consequentiality theory is engaged with - ethical egoism, ethical altruism and Utilitarianism. 

In personal ethics, ethics plays a major role in improving decision making, set or improving a standard behaviour. Moreover, professional ethics help to manage time, rules and disciplines.

The personal code of ethics is actually made with a set of principles, by which a person can take decision for benefit purposes. The personal code of conduct also helps to determine the right and wrong factors; it influences ethics (Sherif, 2019).  

Legislation

The legislation is a part of business ethics; it is also engaged with the rules and regulation of a country. The legislation also has strong influencing factors of ethics (Ismail et al., 2020).   

Rules, regulation and disciplines

Rules, regulation and discipline are the guidelines of a business ethics, on which the business activities are dependent.  

Social factors

The various social factors, such as- age, gender, various environmental factors also influence ethics.  

Workplace ethics

The workplace ethics is related to the business ethics, which describes the ethical dimension of a company and their activities. The workplace ethics is also engaged with the several factors of an organization, such as - production, marketing, distribution, consumption, sale and services (KARAHAN and KAYABA?I, 2019).

Examples of workplace ethics in ASDA

ASDA has maintained the Global policies and laws for managing their organizational activities. By maintaining the organizational ethics, the management of ASDA provided a good service to the customers, colleagues and employees (Craig et al., 2017). The workplace ethic has also helped to maintain the fair competition with the partners. On the other hand, it has also helped to manage the financial integrity of the organization, different insider tradings, such as - projection earning or losses, declaration of a stock split (Ayub Khan et al., 2018).

After analyzing the several Facebook scandals, it has been seen that, during the 2016 election, many people have posted many fake news, and the management did not verify it, which is a corporate scandal of Facebook. Two laws in UK that promote good ethical in ASDA

The two UK laws, which have maintained by ASDA, have been discussed below-

Employee relation act 1999:

As per the employee relation act 1999, it has been seen that the management has to provide the work satisfaction for their employees. On the other hand, the management of the organization will take care about the working hours. The management of ASDA organization has managed the employee relation act that is why they have maintained the employees working hours. On  the other hand, as per the law, an employee can make a change to an employee contract. The employee can make the changes, if the employee agreed with it. 

Environmental protection act 1990:    

As per the environmental protection act 1990, the Government the UK has focused on the emission controlling in the production and protection prepossesses. ASDA has focused on the emission controlling system that is why the organization has removed 85 million carrier bags. Moreover, in order to pollution reduction purposes, ASDA has used the recycling materials for the plastic packaging (Legislation.gov.uk, 2021). The organization has used 30% recycled content for packaging purposes. In order to reduce the food waste purposes, ASDA has taken a step and decided that they will reduce the waste food approximately by 25% (Asda.com, 2021).

Introduction

People understand the importance of organisations that are socially conscious of the environment. It is important that organisations understand the importance of CSR and prioritize it. Consumers understand the impact of CSR upon the society and therefore, prefer spending their money on organisations that value CSR. 

Concept of this falls under Social and Environmental Concern

Corporate Social Responsibility is a type of self-regulation of a business with the aim of being accountable to the society. There is no right or prescribed way to practice CSR (Schooley, 2021). The main aim of a corporate CSR is to contribute in a positive way to the environment or society and the people in it. In today’s environment where people are socially very conscious, they want to work for and spend their money on businesses that prioritize CSR. Consumers understand the need of CSR as they understand the positive impacts of it. This is the reason why people these days prefer spending their money on brands that prioritize CSR over brands that do not prioritise CSR. 

Toms UK and Amazon are two organisations that prioritize CSR. Toms UK donates a pair of shoes to people who need them for every pair of shoes purchased by customers. Similarly, Amazon provides products at low rates and offers home deliveries to help the people. These two organisations contribute to the society and environment in some or the other ways. This way they are not only working in a systematic way but also prioritising CSR by contributing to the society and environment respectively. 

Businesses have to follow and make ethics based on the requirements and demands of the society. The environmental and cultural issues do have an influence upon the ethics that a business follows. This happens as a result of fulfilling the needs and requirements of the customers and for customer retention. Organisations must abide by the expectations of their customers or they might lose them. 

Explanation of the issues

Cooperation and adjustment are the most important factors that are expected in an organisation from an employee. The failure to adjust and cooperate in an organisation might affect the employees work in a negative way. This may affect the organisational development of the organisation in the long run. It is important to cooperate and adjust to be able to work as a team and produce appropriate work. 

It is important that customers will expect the organisation to provide them satisfaction through their products. The employees of the organisation must make sure that satisfaction is provided to the customers as they expect it. 

As an employee of a certain organisation, other employees and staff members expect good communication skills from a person. This is expected as the organisation wants to perform in a better way. Therefore, it will require good communication among its workers. 

Ethics are also important in an organisation so that people do not work by unjust means. It is important that a person include ethics in his work so that he is able to work in an ethical way and contribute to the growth of the company. 

Morals are another important factor that is expected from a person when they are working in an organisation. Without morals, people might not be able to work in a systematic manner in the organisation. The absence of morals might also lead to additional problems in the organisation.

The UK GDPR is a guide to data protection. It is for organisations that have to provide security to their confidential data on a daily basis. It is about the regime of general data protection that is applicable for most of the organisations of the UK (Ico.org.uk, 2018). It includes principles of data protection, obligations and rights. It generally provides a summary of the key points a person needs to know and contains checklists that will enable the person to comply easily (Ico.org.uk, 2018). It also contains ICO guidelines and codes of practices. 

Compliance with the GDPR can be of help in cutting the costs of an organisation. This can be done by retiring legacy software and data inventory applications that are no longer necessary for the business (Zaeem and Barber, 2020). The organisation must be able to follow the GDPR’s mandate and keep their data inventory up to date to be able to reduce their costs. This will enable the company to consolidate information that might be present in inconsistent formats or silos (Zaeem and Barber, 2020).

Organisations are not able to make decisions under the GDPR based on a person’s personal data (Utz et al. 2019). After all, decisions that are automated such as deciding whether to give a loan or insurance to a customer can have higher chances of error (Openaccessgovernment.org, 2018). The GDPR makes it mandatory for its organisations- the right to obtain individual intervention. As a result, the space for arbitrary decision-making is reduced from the organisations (Openaccessgovernment.org, 2018). This also enables the people of the organisation to learn the importance of treating people with dignity. 

GDPR Compliance is a method that will prove to the customers that an organisation is a good and trustworthy custodian of information. The new legislation makes it mandatory for organisations to have an officer for data protection (DPO) along with audits of regular activities of data processing (Openaccessgovernment.org, 2018). In addition, the organisation will have to abide by a set of principles of data protection under the GDPR. The reason behind this is to make sure that the necessary frameworks are in place to secure the data subject’s information (Openaccessgovernment.org, 2018). 

The enterprises in the UK have high chances of facing data breaches. According to the survey of the Cyber Security Breaches of 2017, around 68% of the large firms in the UK have encountered a cyber attack. It is important to have a framework of GDPR-complaint to make sure these attacks are brought under control (Wachter et al., 2017). Having a compact framework of GDPR complaint will improve the practices of cyber security of the firms (Wachter, Mittelstadt and Russell, 2017). 

Conclusion

In simple terms, every individual must follow data protection principles that are a set of strict rules for people using personal data. The act of data protection 2018 is the UK’s implementation of the GDPR. Therefore, it can be stated that by following the GDPR, organisations will be able to enjoy the benefits of it.

An organisation requires its employees to be communicative and empathetic. It is important that employees of an organisation are able to have a good communication with other employees of the organisation in order to ensure a smooth functioning of the organization. In addition, an employee must also have interpersonal skills to work effectively in an organisation with his work mates.

Finding and analysis 

a. Collaborative working

Also known as partnership working, collaborative working is  a way by which multiple organisations are able to work together without any problem (Kwofie et al. 2018). There are numerous benefits of collaborative working. People are brought together along with their organisations. It opens up new channels for communication among people. Collaborative Working produces efficient workers in an organisation (Kwofie et al. 2018). 

b. Strategies

The strategies that must be used for making organisations work collaboratively are communication, organisation and rewards (Indeed.com, 2020). The communication will enable the employees to understand each other in a better way. Organisation will help them to plan their tasks ahead of time so that they are able to work in a systematic manner. The reward strategy will help employees to work better by encouraging them. The rewards will be verbal praises for employees who will work in an efficient way (Biasutti and Concina, 2021). 

c. Value

The values of honesty, communication, loyalty and hard working will help the organisation to succeed. The values will encourage a person to do the work in an ethical way and give their best performance. It is important that values are considered important in collaborative working because without them there will be more chances of unethical jobs and performances from the side of the employees. Values will enable the employees to work in an organisational manner and give their best performances. 

d. Requirement of interpersonal skills

Interpersonal skills are the skills that are required to effectively communicate work and interact with other individuals. It is important the employees are able to include their interpersonal skills in the collaborative work, as they are necessary. The employees must be able to work in an ethical manner and for that, the presence of interpersonal skills is very important (Priyanghaa et al. 2019). Studies have shown that people with interpersonal skills are able to communicate in a better way with other people as they are able to understand the other person’s views. People with interpersonal skills are able to communicate with people, as they are good with people.

e. Benefits

It is very important to have a collaborative, coordinated, and friendly workplace environment. This is required because it makes the working environment of the organization more elusive, transparent and flexible. Furthermore, it is very much important for the management of the organization to motivate the personnel those who are working within the domain of the organization. This helps in creating a healthy workplace environment in a collaborative organization. The clarity and understanding within the team members of the organization comes out from performing the collaborative workplace culture. This could be done through solving problems of the other team members within a specific team. 

f. Process of promoting equality and diversity in the workplaces

The organization has various teams but within a team there are various team members who belong from different cultural backgrounds. The organization must ensure that they should maintain the diversity within the team members. A diverse background means people having different gender, sex, sexual orientation, race, class, creed, and ethnicity. Accepting all these backgrounds by the organizations and the members working in the team creates a peaceful and integrated atmosphere within the working space. However, it is found that the language creates a barrier within an organizational workplace and there pose a communication gap within the members. 

g. British Values embedded into collaborative working

One of the most important cultures that undermine the British value under the domain of the collaborative working space is respecting each other's opinion and culture. The workplace culture that is seen in the organizations of the United Kingdom is to show respect, gratitude and towards each other in the organizational working space. The United Kingdom comes up with the culture of having respect towards the valid reasoning from the other people. Furthermore, the people who are in the United Kingdom do not resonate with other working and cultural behaviour. Their process of thinking and thoughts are very liberal when it comes to taking any sort of decision but logically. 

h. Consequences poor collaborative working

The environment of the collaborative working culture is reduced and becomes poor the collaboration, coordination and communication within the employees of the organization become loose. The business organization may suffer from severe losses if there any sort of negativity exists in the collaboration within the workers of the organization (Dan et al., 2019). It is very difficult to mitigate the situation where the people are stricken by their egoistic value. Technical failure can be mitigated but it is very hard to mitigate the mental state of each person. 

Conclusion

A line of conclusion can be drawn by saying that to form a safe and peaceful workplace environment, it is very important to be collaborative. The team member within the organization must be very coordinating, respectful, communicating and challenging within him or herself. This will further help in generating good production for the organization as a whole. The collaborative workplace culture within the organization is performed if there no ego exists, sharing of ethical knowledge and ideas, having proper and legitimate communication among each other and respecting the culture of the workplace.
