Due to this reason talent management had gained a lot of attention by the businesses across the world. Talent management is referred as the process of attracting, retaining and managing the talented employees of the company. Talent management is very important as it is having an influence on the performance and productivity of the firm. Companies are facing different challenges in managing talent in an effective manner (Abdollahbeigi et. al. 2017). In this research report the researcher would be focus on explaining the different concepts related to talent management. For explaining this the researcher would be consider Tesco as the case company and will evaluate the effectiveness of the talent management strategies of Tesco. It is one of the leading firm operating in the retail industry of UK. The company is operating in an service sector due to this reason it is important for the firm to have highly skilled and talented employees whose can deliver high quality work to the firm.

Managing the businesses is not an easy task as one needs to focus on different factors which are affecting the business in an effective manner. The reason to study talent management is that it is one of the important topic which is been taught to us in business management. Managing the human resource is a difficult task and due to this reason talent management is an important topic to study. Along with this developing better researching skills is also important and in this research primary research would be conducted which would help the researcher in improving the researching skills. Also the researcher would get to understand that how the companies are using different strategies for managing talented employees in the company. With the increasing competition it is important for the firms to have effective strategies for retaining and attracting the employees then only they can higher skilled and talented those can deliver high quality work to the company.

Tesco is an leading company and for such a firm it is important to invest in better strategies that can help them in maintaining their market performance and managing productivity. Understanding the effectiveness of talent management strategies of Tesco would help in understanding that how the companies use different strategies for managing the talented employees in the firm. Moreover the researcher had also explained that in the technologically advance business world it is more important for the companies to have highly skilled and talented employees. Due to this reason talent management had become very important for the 21st century businesses. The study had concluded that for using advance technologies and managing the business operations in an effective manner the companies needs to focus on employee retention, recruitment and management. 

Impact of talent management on the organisation 

Sivathanu and Pillai (2019) had mentioned that talent management is having an impact on company performance. Due to this it is important for the companies to have employees with effective skills and knowledge so that they can deliver high quality work to the company.

Khilji and Schuler (2017) had stated in their study that talent management is having an impact on the profitability of the company. The researcher had explained that when highly talented employees are working in the firm then they deliver high quality work in the firm which is having an positive impact on the productivity and profitability of the firm. Research methodology is the different methods and procedures which are used by the researcher for collecting and analysing the data in a systematic manner.

On the basis of the research philosophy only the researcher collect, analyse and use the data for the research study. There are four different types of research philosophies such as realism, positivism, interpretivism and pragmatism. In this research study the researcher would be using the interpretivism research approach as the researcher wants to observe the social environment and wants to involve the individuals for conducting an high quality research.

Research design is the process which is being used by the researcher for integrating all the different parts of the study in a presentable and systematic manner. The research designs are broadly classified as qualitative research designs and quantitative research designs. Also these research designs are further categorised. In the current research study the researcher would be using descriptive research design. The researcher is using this research design as it would help the researcher in investigating the topic in detail (Siedlecki, 2020). Using the descriptive research design would help the researcher in understanding the research specific to the case company in detail which would have an positive impact on the quality of the research study. 

Research Approach

Research approach is the way the researcher approaches to conduct the study. The research approach needs to align well with the research method, philosophy and design as well. There are two types of research approached which are inductive and deductive. While using the inductive research approach the researcher focuses on aims and objectives of the study on the other hand in deductive research approach the researches develops the hypothesis and then test them in the research. In the present study the researcher would be using inductive research approach as it would help the researcher in getting the results which would fulfil the research objectives. 

Research Method

Research method is referred as the way in which the data is being collected and analysed in the research study. There are two different types of research method which are qualitative and quantitative research methods. In qualitative research method the qualitative data or the textual data is being collected. On the other hand in the quantitative research method the numerical data is collected and analysed in the research study. In this research the researcher would be using qualitative research method and will collect qualitative data for getting the results (Roger et. al. 2018). The major reason behind selecting this research method is that qualitative data would be more appropriate for understanding the concept of talent management. Along with this the qualitative data is easy to collect and analyse this would help the researcher in conducting the research in an convenient manner. 

Data Collection

Data collection is referred as the process of collecting the data in an effective manner. In this study for collecting the data the researcher would be using both primary and secondary data collection methods. For collecting primary data the researcher would be conducting questionnaire survey with the employees of the case company. Primary data would help the researcher in collecting more specific information related to the company. On the other hand for collecting secondary data different literature sources would be used. The researcher had decided to use both the data collection methods as it would the researcher in collecting high quality data which would be more authentic and will help in getting better results for the research study (Ruggiano and Perry, 2019).

Sampling

Sampling is the method which helps the researchers in selecting the research participants in the primary research. There are different methods which can be used by the researcher for selecting the candidates for the research study. In the current study the researcher would be using simple random sampling method. In this method all the individuals are having equal opportunities to get selected for the research study. For this study 15 employees working in Tesco Plc are being selected for questionnaire survey so that high quality data can be collected specific to the company. 

Data Analysis

Analysing the data is an important task for the researcher. Data analysis is referred as the process or the methods which are being used for analysing the collected data in a systematic manner for getting better results of the research study. There are different types of data analysis method but the choice of analysis method depends on the nature of the data which is being collected in the study. In this study the researcher would be using thematic analysis for analysing the data. The major reason behind using thematic analysis it that it is widely used for qualitative researches (Terry et. al. 2017). Along with this the themes helps the readers in understanding the results clearly due to this reason the researcher is using this method.

Ethical consideration

Ethics are having a major role to play in the research studies. When the researcher is conducting a research study then they should focus on taking care of all the different ethical considerations which are essential for consider while conducting the researcher in an systematic and authentic manner. In the current research study the researcher would be focusing on taking care of the respect, privacy and dignity of all the research participants and stakeholders as well. The sensitive information related to the research participants would be stored and used in an safe and secure manner. For this the researcher would be focusing on data protection act. Along with this the researcher would focus on not copying the work of any of the other researcher and if any of the information is being taken they should use proper referencing. Interpretation: It can be said that the attractive pay offered by the case company is helping them in attracting and retaining the employees for a longer period which is having an positive influence on the talent management.

Importance of talent management 

The different research studies analysed presented in the literature review reflects that talent management is very important for the organisation. The businesses need to focus on developing better strategies for recruiting, selecting and retaining the talented employees of the company. Tesco is operating in a service sector and for such a firm it is crucial to have highly skilled employees who can deliver high quality service to the customer and satisfy them. Due to this reason Tesco is working on all the different factors such as employee motivation, retention strategies and organisational culture for managing the employees in an efficient manner by satisfying them with their job roles. Also the company is focusing on having effective leadership in the firm which allows the employees to work appropriately and motivate them for increase employee engagement.

Factors affecting talent management in an organisation

There are different factors which are having an impact on the talent management of the company. Pay and benefits offered by the firm are one of the significant factors which are having an impact on the employee retention and attracting the talented candidates thus affects the overall talent management. Due to this the results of primary results showed that Tesco is offering attractive pay, benefits and rewards for attracting and retaining their employees. In support to this the results of Narayanan et. al. (2019) had also showed that rewards and pay are having an impact on talent management in an organization. Apart from this the organisational culture and work environment are also a crucial factors which are having an influence on employee motivation, job satisfaction and retention. All these factors are associated with talent management. 

From the results it can be said that Tesco should create an positive work culture with better values and ethics which can help them in retaining and attracting the customers. From the results of the study it is revealed that the recruitment process of the company needs to be effective. The rewards and recognition offered by the company for better performance is also having an major role to play in the talent management. Due to this reason Tesco offers attractive financial and non-financial rewards to their employees for motivating them and retaining them. On the basis of the results of the primary research it can be said that Tesco needs to improve their strategies related to talent management and should focus on collecting feedbacks and evaluating the performance. Based on the feedbacks the company needs to make changes in their talent management strategies so that they can managing talented employees in more appropriate manner (Lotfi et. al. 2020). 

Talent management strategies of Tesco

The company is focusing on using different strategies for motivating the employees and satisfying them with their job roles. The company is offering higher pay, better benefits and rewards for motivating the employees (Alam and Raut-Roy, 2019). Also the company is generating better opportunities for the employees regarding their professional development which is helping them in satisfying with their jobs. Also the company is focusing on creating an positive work culture and healthy workplace environment which reduces the stress at work and satisfy the employees with their jobs. The company is also focusing on having effective leadership in the firm so that the employees should be highly motivated towards the company goals and this is helping them in managing talent in the firm (Fadeyi, 2020). Also the company is focusing on talent management programs which are helping them in managing the talented employees in an effective manner and helping the firm in having the most talented employees. 

RECOMMENDATIONS

In the above mentioned research project the researcher had evaluated the effectiveness of the talent management strategies of Tesco. In this research the researcher had collected the primary data for conducting an high quality research. From the results of the research study it can be said that the case company is focusing on managing the employees and retaining them in an effective manner. Tesco is focusing on measuring the performance of their employees and are developing different training and development programs for their employees so that effective skills and knowledge can be developed. Along with this the company is also investing better capital for offering different rewards and benefits to the employees which is helping them in motivating the employees and retaining them in an effective manner. 

The researcher had also explained that there are different factors which are having an influence on the talent management. The factors such as salary, rewards, benefits, job security, work environment, organisational culture and workplace conditions are some of the factors which affect the talent management. Along with these factors the different strategies related to recruitment and selection process of the company are also having an major role to play in the talent management in an organisation. From this it can be said that the company need to develop effective strategies for recruitment which can help them in attracting the most talented employees. Also the company needs to motivate and satisfy the customers with their job roles for managing the talented employees in an efficient manner so that they can deliver better work to the company. 

From the results of the researcher study it can be concluded that the Tesco needs to focus on continuous improvement in their talent management strategies. This can help them in retaining the talented employees for a longer period of time. On the basis of the above mentioned research report it can be recommended that the case company should emphasis more on effective training and development of their employees. Along with this Tesco should also focus on improving their selection and recruitment process that can help them in attracting the talented candidates. Also the company should focus on selecting the most talented employee for the company as per the job roles then only they would be able to deliver high quality work to the firm. Thus it can be said that managing the talented employees is challenging but effective strategies can help then firms in talent management.
